Viage Poker Room

Welcome to the home of poker in Brussels, the Viage Poker Room. Our poker room offers a variety of games and limits to suit all levels of play. Put your skills to the test playing Texas Hold'em, every night from 19h.

If you like tournaments, Monday and Wednesday are Sit & Go nights. They are very popular, so make a reservation early! We also offer cash games every night of the week, from a 2-2 table to 10-20. You can register for the cash games from 18h at the welcome desk.

If you have any other questions, please approach one of our Poker Room Supervisors, or talk to one of our hosts for more information.

Learn to Play

Poker is an easy game to learn to play. Many people already have a basic understanding of the game, and the following step by step guide has all the information you need to sit down and give it a try.

  • Each table has a minimum table stake, depending on the game’s limit. You can’t take a seat unless you are willing to put that amount on the table.
  • Take your seat as directed by the poker room supervisor, and put your chips on the table. Now you are ready to go.
  • On your first hand and when it is your turn, you will need to post a blind, the first bet in the pot. The size of the blind depends on the limit of the game.
  • Once the blinds are posted, each player receives 2 cards. Players take it in turn to act, which means to decide if they want to call, raise or fold.
  • Everybody has either called (matched the biggest bet) or folded (no longer playing the hand), the croupier deals communal cards face up in the middle of the table.
  • In Texas Hold’em there are 4 rounds, after which there is a showdown to determine the winning hand.
  • To make a hand, you can use any of the 7 cards you can see, ie your two personal cards plus the 5 communal cards. You don’t have to use either of your two cards if there is a better hand showing.
  • Don’t worry if you have other questions. The supervisor can help you before you sit down, or the croupier can help when you are playing – but they can’t give you advice on how to play.

Poker FAQ

Is the answer to your question here?

  • What is a call? To call a bet is to match the bet of the previous player(s).
  • What is a Raise? A raise is when you bet more than the last player.
  • What is a check? A check is when you stay in the game, but don't bet. If all players check, then you get to see a free card, but as soon as a bet is made, nobody can check that round.
  • What is a fold? To fold is to throw your hand down, and quitting that round of play.
  • What is a Sit and Go? A Sit and Go is a mini-tournament. Players pay an entry fee at the start of the sit and go, and then they play it out until one player has all the chips.

There are more expressions related to this game. Feel free to ask the gaming staff for an explanation if you don't understand something. They are more than happy to help you!

Poker Etiquette

Poker is a game of etiquette. To help you understand and negotiate the unwritten rules, below are some do’s and don’ts:

  • Don’t act out of turn.
  • Don’t splash chips into the pot.
  • Don’t agree to check a hand to the end, when a third player is all-in.
  • Don’t look at other player’s hands.
  • Don’t advise other players. Everybody plays for themselves in poker.
  • Don’t comment on a live hand. Let other players make their own decisions.
  • Don’t use electronic equipment at the table.
  • Do play in a timely manner. Agonizing over your decisions slows down the game, and isn’t fair to other players.
  • Do play in your own interests only. Poker is not a team game.
  • Do keep your chips and cards in view of the dealer and other players.
  • Do keep quiet during a round of play, and let the active players compete for the pot without unnecessary distraction.
  • Do keep all interactions with staff and other players polite. Physical contact with staff is expressly prohibited.
  • Do talk in one of the accepted languages – French, Dutch, German or English – when cards are in play.

This list is a guide only, and is not meant to be considered complete. Repeated breaches of these guidelines, or behaviour that is considered as disruptive to the card room may see a player excluded.

The room opens at 19h, 7 days a week. Seats on the low limit tables fill up quickly, so put on your poker face and come down to Viage and put your skills to the test. Whether it is your first time, or you are a seasoned player, you are always welcome at Viage. Enjoy.

Poker News

The Viage poker room now has a pager system to call players when their seat is available. No more hanging around the tables waiting for your seat to be free. Now you can be in any part of the Viage complex, and still get a live notification when your seat is ready. Whether you are playing the tables, enjoying a drink at the bar or trying out the latest slot machine, you won’t lose your seat. A great opportunity to have a look around, and see what else Viage has to offer you!

Viage has new buy-in limits for the tables No-limit 5/10 and No-limit 10/20. There is also a new table No-Limit Texas Hold’em 5/5 available. For more information, visit the poker room!

Extra Low Limit Tables!!

The Viage poker room now offers 2 low limit 2-2 tables every night. A combination of a low hourly rate of 4 euros and rake from the pot means even the most patient players can afford to sit and wait for the monster hand to come in. The pot rake is capped at 8 euros per hand, taken only when the pot reaches 100 euros. Poker room staff will be able to provide more information on the commission, how and when it is taken, the rate and any other information concerning the game.
